Oeps, foutje! Iemand heeft bij Mercedes zitten suffen en per ongeluk(?) een eerste foto inclusief de technische informatie van de gefacelifte SL online heeft gezet. Helaas moeten we het nu nog doen met 1 foto, maar in januari zal ongetwijfeld meer informatie volgen.

De SL63 AMG krijgt 525 pk en 630 Nm onder de nieuw gevormde motorkap. De “oude” SL55 AMG moest het nog doen met 517 pk/720 Nm. Je krijgt er dus 8 pk bij maar aan de andere kant heb je wel 90 Nm minder! En dat is ook duidelijk te merken in het standaardsprintje van 0-100 de SL55 doet daar 4,5 sec over den de nieuwe SL63 heeft daar 4,7 seconden voor nodig. En dan is de CO2 uitstoot ook nog eens toegenomen van 324 g/km naar 330 g/km. Kortom vernieuwing is niet altijd vooruitgang. Aan de techniek van SL65 is niks veranderd, die levert nog steeds 612 pk. Tuning specialist Alfons Hohenester heeft een visueel discreet gestylede Audi A4 aangepakt. Met behulp van een twin-turbo V6 en extra tuning heeft de A4 een vermogen van 650 pk gekregen, het max koppel is 720 Nm.

Haal die stickers er af en het is een ultiem voorbeeld van een wolf in schaapskleren! De A4 is gedoopt als “Hohenester HS650 Nardo” en heeft op het circuit een snelheid van 343,9 km/u neergezet.

Maar niet alleen de topsnelheid is noemenswaardig, ook de sprinttijden mogen er zijn: 3,4 seconden naar de 100, 10,3 seconden naar de 200 en een zeer nette 29,8 seconden naar de 300 km/u. En dat terwijl de Audi voldoet aan Euro4 emissie-eisen;)

Op 1 december zal deze auto tentoon staan op de tuningshow in Essen.

Ok, this shit is the bomb! Ik dacht altijd dat de Gemballa Mirage GT een concept was (en dat deze nooit realiteit zou worden), maar waarschijnlijk was ik niet goed op de hoogte. Er blijkt namelijk een Mirage GT te zijn en het goede nieuws is; hij is te koop! Yep, in Dubai (waar anders?) kun je de auto bestellen…

De Mirage GT heeft een 5,7-Liter V10 met 750pk en een topsnelheid van 400 km/u! Het sprintje naar de 100 (60mph) doet ie in 3,4 seconden.

De auto staat te koop bij Alain Class, waar overigens ook al een SLR 722 te koop staat. Dusss, waar wacht je op?

Het Duitse Kicherer houdt zich bezig met tuning. In dit geval hebben ze de Mercedes SL600 Biturbo als basis genomen voor het K60 EVO pakket. De SL EVO krijgt daardoor 605pk met een heleboel carbon! De maximumsnelheid is 350 km/u.

De standaard 517 pk is door Kicherer opgekrikt naar 605 pk, dat komt verdomd dicht in de buurt van de SL 65 AMG (612 pk). Het is mij echter niet helemaal duidelijk of er nu chiptuning aan te pas is gekomen of dat ze ook aan de motor hardware vervangen hebben.

Belangrijk onderdeel van het pakket is de EVO-carrosserie kit, welke voornamelijk bestaat uit een heleboel koolstof (carbon). Andere noemenswaardigheden zijn de diffusor achter, 20-inch sloffen en de optische tuning (via autoblog.it).

Gemballa vergreep zich al eens aan de Porsche Carrera 911 S (997) en gaf dit de naam GT 500. Nu is de 997 Turbo aan de beurt.

De elfer krijgt van Gemballa een enorme spoilert achterop, plus een uitlaatsysteem wat optisch erg aan de Carrera GT doet denken. De vermogens-upgrade kan in 4 fases worden gedaan. Standaard gaat het om 480pk en 680Nm, Gemballa kan er desgewenst 550, 600, 650 of 750 peekaa uit halen. Het max koppel gaat tot 980 Nm (via autoblog.it).

Mercedes-AMG is presenting two top V8 models in the form of the CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG. Dynamic progress is guaranteed by the 100% AMG-developed 6.3-litre V8-engine with a peak output of 386 kW/525 hp and 630 Newton metres of torque. The exclusive nature of the unique AMG high-performance cars is amply demonstrated by their high-tech appointments: standard equipment includes AMG bodystyling, AMG light-alloy wheels, an AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control, an AMG high-performance braking system, a dedicated AMG interior and the preventive occupant protection system PRE-SAFE® – with the new PRE-SAFE® brake and DISTRONIC PLUS available as options. The CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG are the current highlights of the 2006 strategic model initiative by Mercedes-AMG – with ten brand-new AMG high-performance cars to date.

The heart of both top-of-the-line eight-cylinder models is the 100% AMG-developed AMG 6.3-litre V8-engine. From a displacement of 6208 cc, this high-revving, naturally aspirated engine delivers an output of 386 kW/525 hp at 6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 630 Nm at 5200 rpm. This gives the AMG powerpack a higher specific output and specific torque than any other series-produced naturally aspirated eight-cylinder engine in the world. Accordingly the eight-cylinder unit from Affalterbach has a fulminating performance potential: both AMG models will accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. This unique combination of a fast-running design and a large displacement achieves the best of both worlds: exhilarating high-revving flexibility accompanied by high pulling power at low engine speeds.

AMG 6.3-litre V8-engine with high-tech motor racing features

Made entirely from high-strength aluminium, the V8 naturally aspirated engine is packed with a wealth of fascinating racetrack technology that reflects AMG's rich motorsport heritage. The vertical arrangement of the intake and exhaust ports together with the sophisticated new variable intake manifold featuring two integral throttle flaps results in superlative cylinder charging. The use of bucket tappets in the cylinder heads paves the way for a stiff valve train and therefore high engine speeds. Variable camshaft adjustment, an extra-rigid closed-deck crankcase and cylinder walls with a revolutionary new LDS coating are further attributes of this ultra-sophisticated V8 engine made by Mercedes-AMG.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission with DIRECT SELECT gearshift is the perfect complement to the dynamic power. In true Formula One style, the seven-speed automatic transmission can be operated using the AMG shift paddles on the steering wheel. There are three transmission modes – "S" (Sport), "C" (Comfort) and "M" (Manual) – each of which has different shift characteristics and speeds, and can be selected using a switch on the centre console. The different modes also modify the accelerator response and the spring/damper settings of the AMG sports suspension.

AMG sports suspension based on ABC and an AMG high-performance braking system

The suspension and braking system of the CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG are a highly impressive high-tech package. The AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control (ABC) all but entirely eliminates the body movements that occur when moving off, cornering and braking. Bends are negotiated with far less roll; the body roll caused by fast evasive manoeuvring is effectively suppressed. 8.5 and 9.5-inch wide 19“ AMG light-alloy wheels in a new four-spoke design, with wide-base tyres in size 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear), not only fill the striking, flared wheel arches perfectly, but also ensure outstanding road contact. Two completely new AMG light-alloy wheels in size 8.5 and 9.5 x 20 inches – one of them using a particularly lightweight forging technology – are available as optional extras.

The completely newly developed AMG high-performance brakes based on the ADAPTIVE BRAKE system set new standards in terms of stopping power, sensitivity and fade resistance. A new twin sliding calliper is used for the front brakes, the kind of innovation people have come to expect from AMG. This brand new technology combines the advantages of a floating-calliper brake – lower heat transfer to the brake fluid and significantly improved ride comfort due to the way the brake pads are located – with the performance of a large fixed-calliper brake. Large composite brake discs at the front and rear ensure the shortest stopping distances even under the highest loads.

Dynamic and exclusive styling inside and out

The two AMG models give the impression of high-performance athletes in bespoke suits – though with differences in their characteristics. The new AMG bodystyling combines superbly with the pronounced, flared wheel arches to produce an air of poise and self-assurance. In the CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG, the muscular AMG bumper with its round foglamps set in chrome rings, large air intakes and side vents leaves a lasting impression. The striking AMG radiator grille exclusive to the CL 63 AMG features two horizontal chrome louvres and numerous vertical slats in black – with another athletic touch provided by the titanium-painted lenses of the bi-xenon headlamps.

The pronounced contours of the AMG side skirts continue the line of the front bumper to the rear, where the AMG rear apron with its black insert emphasises the width of the car even further – and with a sporty, diffused look in the case of the CL 63 AMG. Visual and acoustic highlights are provided by the two chrome twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system. Another distinguishing feature is the “6.3 AMG“ lettering on the front wings.

This sporty and exclusive styling is continued in the interior. The extensive standard appointments include PASSION leather upholstery and multicontour AMG sports seats with their own cross-piping design and massage function. In the S 63 AMG the side seat bolsters are upholstered in particularly soft natural leather. The AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel with its specially designed rim and AMG shift paddles of aluminium with “up“and “down“ lettering is another visual and tactile delight. The AMG instrument cluster displays the AMG main menu with the “RACETIMER“. Another eye-catching feature in the interior is the exclusive analogue clock modelled on the design of the “IWC-Ingenieur“series in the centre console. The overall picture is rounded off by AMG entry sills of brushed stainless steel.

New standards in active and passive safety

The CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG also set new standards where active and passive safety are concerned: their standard appointments include PRE-SAFE®, the preventive occupant protection system. PRE-SAFE® recognises situations conducive to an accident at an early stage and activates a number of protective systems as a precaution. In the CL 63 AMG the unique Intelligent Light System is also standard to make driving at night even safer.

Mercedes-Benz has made this system even better with the new PRE-SAFE® brake and Brake Assist PLUS (BAS PLUS). These two systems are radar-based and warn the driver of an imminent rear-end collision with visual and audible signals, automatically initiating a partial braking response if the danger is acute. Mercedes-Benz also offers BAS PLUS and PRE-SAFE® brakes in conjunction with the optional DISTRONIC PLUS proximity cruise control for both these top-of-the-range AMG eight-cylinder models.

The market launch of the CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG in Mercedes-Benz sales offices and dealerships will commence in January 2007. The S 63 AMG comes in two body variants: a particularly lively, 130-millimetre shorter version is available in addition to the more prestigious version with a long wheelbase.

A coupé with the room of an S Class? Anyone looking for a vehicle of this kind need look no further than the same company. The CL, one of the biggest coupés around, is one of the most luxurious in its class. Carlsson, one of the most discerning Mercedes-Benz tuners in the business, has focused on the CL and refined the luxury coupé with an interior of the highest quality and an engine tweak that improves not only performance but also drivability. The CK60 based on the CL is nothing less than THE dream coupé.

In a class of its own: Carlsson CK60 engine kit
Developed especially for the CL 600, the CK60 engine kit accelerates not only the driver's pulse but also the elegant coupé in a mere 4.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. No less impressive are the output and torque data after the Carlsson treatment: the tuned V12 develops 600 bhp / 441 kW (standard 517 bhp / 380 kW) at 5000 rpm coupled with a breathtaking 1024 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. Top speed is an electronically regulated 320 km/h (due to the limitations of the tyres available). The CK60 engine kit has more than enough power and torque in every conceivable situation!

Stainless-steel rear silencer: a more sonorous sound and greater flexibility
The Carlsson sports exhaust system with centre and rear silencers improves performance and generates a particularly powerful sound. The rear view of the CK60 is dominated by the Carlsson sports rear silencers with four tail pipes that impress not only through a dramatic, sonorous sound but also through a reduction in backpressure and optimised pipe run compared to the standard version. The result: more torque and more output.

Ultra-light and elegant: 3/11 Ultra Light or 1/16 Ultra Light wheels
Ultra Light forged wheels are significantly lighter than conventional cast wheels but just as strong. Comparable standard cast wheels weigh around 50 % more than Carlsson forged wheels. Thanks to the weight reduction, they tend to tramp less than their cast equivalents (lower unsprung mass) and thus offer the best possible road contact. For the driver, this means improved handling and, therefore, greater driving safety and comfort.


The Carlsson 3/11 Ultra Light wheel design is characteristic of the company's high-tech orientation. The three-piece, 11-spoke forged wheel was created especially for larger automobiles. For the CL, Carlsson offers 11-spoke wheels in the dimensions 9x21"with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 255/30 ZR 21 tyres for the front axle and 10x21" with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 285/30 ZR21 tyres for the rear axle. Dynamic, potent and yet elegant, the wheels complement the lines perfectly and accentuate the sporting character of the luxury coupé.

The Carlsson 1/16 Ultra Light wheel design is available for the CL600 in dimensions 8.5x20" with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 255/35 ZR 20 tyres at the front and 11x20"with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 275/35 ZR20 tyres at the rear.

Carlsson aerodynamic components: an expression of elegance and power
The lines of the standard CL are elegant. Nevertheless, Carlsson shows how to strengthen this characteristic. Restrained, aerodynamically effective components round off the appearance of the CL in the usual distinguished way. The front-spoiler and rear-skirt lips in typical Carlsson diffuser look, as well as the striking rear spoiler, improve the handling of the luxury car at high speeds. Thus, the CK 60 is fully in line with the safety-first thinking that has characterised Mercedes-Benz since time immemorial. These refinements are rounded off by an electro-polished, stainless-steel grille insert that, on the one hand, improves the flow of air to the radiators and, on the other hand, underscores the sporting nature of the design kit. The front-spoiler lip and grille-insert kits are available separately so customers can determine the degree of individuality themselves.

C-Tronic® SUSPENSION electronic lowering kit
Exclusively for the CL 600, Carlsson offers the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION electronic lowering kit that reduces the ride height of the vehicle by approx. 30 mm. Drivers can be sure that lowering the car gives it a significantly more sporting look.
The C-Tronic® SUSPENSION not only lowers the centre of gravity but also, thanks to the sophisticated technology, interacts intelligently with the road surface. On poor roads on which the suspension has to work hard, the car's ride height is automatically adjusted to ensure the spring travelling remaining is sufficient for constant ride comfort. Drivers notice the effects of the C-Tronic® lowering via a reduced tendency to roll and considerably more agile handling. In other words, the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION also stands for greater driving pleasure.
Additionally, the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION ensures that, even at speeds in excess of 120 km/h, the car is not lowered beyond the standard minimum ride height thus ensuring sufficient compression travel for the suspension.
An incidental effect of lowering the car is a reduction in air resistance and lift because less air flows beneath the car.

Unadulterated luxury inside
Carlsson uses only the very best materials for the interior appointments of the CK60. A combination of Alcantara and leather makes even the longest journeys a pleasure. The attractive rhombus quilting of the leather for the door centre panels matches the discerning requirements of the CL driver perfectly: striking and attractive - yet restrained. With the ergonomically shaped Carlsson sports steering wheel in leather / Alcantara or leather / wood, he or she always has a firm and very pleasant grip on everything.

Brabus is altijd goed. Optisch kun je erover twisten maar onder de kap weten ze er altijd wel maximaal vermogen in te stoppen. Ditmaal is het de nieuwe CL 600 die door Brabus onder handen is genomen. De gebruikte motor is de BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo, die we laatst ook in de SL roadster zagen, met 730pk en een max koppel dat elektronisch begrensd is op 1100 Nm…

De 6.3 liter BRABUS SV12 kan er zonder begrenzing zelfs 1320Nm uit halen (op 2100 rpm), maar is dat nu allemaal nodig? Mwoah, die sprint naar de 100 kan natuurlijk altijd sneller.

De standaard CL600 heeft een biturbo twaalfcilinder met 517pk en een max koppel van 830 Nm. De sprint naar de 100km/u gaat daarmee in 4,6 seconden, Brabus doet het nu in 4 seconden! En na 11,9 seconden zit je op de 200km/u. De topsnelheid is 340 km/u.

Aan de buitenkant is het lekker porno: 21-inch lichtmetaal en de standaard aerodynamische aanpassingen. De voorbumper is zelfs getest in een windtunnel en ziet er wat mij betreft een stuk beter uit dan het origineel. Dikkere remmen staan op de optielijst, net zoals sportievere vering en een meer exclusief interieur.

Oh, en Brabus is de CL500 natuurlijk ook niet vergeten: met behulp van een B8 tuning kit krijgt de coupé 462pk en een max koppel van 615 Nm (standaard 388 pk en 530 Nm). Ook leuk…

Je wilt Audi S8 prestaties, maar hebt net genoeg centjes voor een S6, of je bent het zat dat wanneer je met 250 km/u op de linker baan rijdt, er toch nog met groot licht in je binnenspiegel wordt geknipperd omdat je opzij moet. Voor deze gevallen (en meer) biedt tuner MTM uitkomst.

MTM heeft de S6 en S8 getuned, waardoor het vermogen van de S6 gelijk wordt getrokken met die van de S8. Beiden auto’s hebben immers dezelfde 5,2 liter V10 motor, maar in de S6 heeft Audi het blok wat tammer gehouden. Bij de S6 vult MTM de ontbrekende 15 pk dus weer netjes aan, om uit te komen op de 450 pk van grote broer S8. Beiden modellen zijn begrensd op 250 km/u, maar voor wie dat als een probleem ervaart, rekt MTM deze grens op naar 300 km/u.

Voor de sportieve looks en een lekkere sound heeft MTM een sportuitlaat beschikbaar bestaande uit 4 roestvrijstalen pijpen.

Bij de S8 heeft MTM de standaard luchtvering aangepast. MTM heeft ervoor gezorgd dat deze nu individueel kan worden geregeld en snelheids-afhankelijk is. Gunstig voor het betere bochtenwerk. De S6, die niet over luchtvering beschikt, laat MTM natuurlijk niet in de kou staan, want ook aan de vering van de S6 is gesleuteld.

Tuning is pas af wanneer er ook een paar strakke sloffen zijn ondergeschoven. Voor de S6 en S8 heeft MTM een eigen creatie van 9-spaaks 21 inch velgen die zij “Bimoto” noemen, die een perfecte balans van een kracht en sportieve elegantie moeten uitstralen. Ze zijn verkrijgbaar in “Polished Titanium” en “Shiny Silver”, met een bandenmaat van 285/30. (via: worldcarfans.com)

Mercedes introduceert de 63 AMG-versie van de CL. Die beschikt dus over het nieuwe V8 blok van AMG maar dan wel met nog meer vermogen: 525 pk.
 
De CL 63 AMG sprint met de 525 pk sterke 6.3 V8 in 4,6 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/h en is zoals gebruikelijk begrensd op 250. Dat de CL niet de V12 biturbo van de S 65 AMG krijgt, is opmerkelijk. De nieuwe V8 van AMG wordt over de modellen van Mercedes uitgesmeerd, en zit onder meer in de E-, de CLK- en de CLS-klasse. Nergens is hij echter zo krachtig als in de CL 63 AMG. Met 525 pk en 630 Nm aan koppel troeft hij de E 63 AMG af die tot 514 pk komt. Natuurlijk heeft ook deze AMG vier uitlaten en verder is de topversie herkenbaar aan de aangepaste bumpers. Een AMG-sportonderstel zorgt voor een inniger contact met het wegdek en de Active Body Control gaat overhellen van de lijvige koets tegen. Overigens is de CL 63 AMG maar nauwelijks krachtiger dan de CL 600 met de ´tamme´ Mercedes V12 biturbo, die levert 517 pk en heeft meer trekkracht, maar liefst 830 Nm. Het zou ons dan ook niet verbazen wanneer er ook nog een CL 65 AMG komt met 612 pk en 1.000 Nm

nadat we gisteravond het nieuws hadden over de Porsche 911 Turbo van 9ff heeft TechArt er ook maar meteen een persberichtje uitgedaan. In tegenstelling tot 9ff heeft TechArt zich echter alleen bezig gehouden met de body. Ze hebben volgens eigen zeggen een speciale “aerodynamic-enhancement kit” gemaakt die in een windtunnel is ontworpen.

De kit bestaat uit een aangepaste voorbumper met spoiler, een dakspoiler en aangepaste spoiler achterop. Dit zou de 997 ten goede komen tijdens hoge snelheden. Verder zijn er aangepaste buitenspiegels, een diffuser achter en twee dubbele ovalen sportuitlaten.

Ook biedt TechArt nieuwe setjes sloffen, het gaat om lichtgewicht vijfspaaks wielen in 19- of 20-inch.

Kleurstelling doet trouwens denken aan de TechArt Cayman GTSport. Wit met zwarte velgen blijft toch wel erg lekker bij dit soort wagens… Anyway, genoeg gel#ld, check gewoon die afbeeldingen! Zeer strakke bak!

The new Turbo is everything but slow, this brand new Uber-Carrera romps to 60mph within 3.7 seconds. The top speed of almost 193 mph should work for the everyday use - almost.

However, for the true performance enthusiasts, too much is simply never enough. These men can never have enough power – and for this reason power hungry Turbo owners who demand maximum performance insist on 9ff enhancement shortly after their purchases. Not for the average Porsche driver, 9ff customers insist on performance without compromise.

Not content to have plastic bodied “competitors” or temperamental Italians show them their taillights - for these drivers you can never have “enough” performance. Who else to turn to but a company who builds street-able, reliable vehicles with more than 900 HP and is able to launch a road-registered 911 to top speeds in excess of 388 km/h? The special assignment of course – to enhance an already high tech Porsche Turbo.

Charged with such responsibility, the professors of speed at the Dortmund company diligently set to work on the engineering tasks and development and were shortly able to show some excellent results. Drawing upon their past experience, they were able to push the physical limits – obtaining stratospheric Horsepower outputs.

Due to the fact that not every client has the same requirements the performance kits were divided into three different categories.

Stage I
The first set is a sport exhaust system which includes metal catalytic converters, free flowing air filters and newly programmed software, which boosts power, but retains stock-like reliability and drivability. Of course, the biggest news is the assertive and authoritative retort that replaces the muted whimper of the newly enhanced turbo flat six. Of course the 9ff VariotuneTM with selectable sound control system propagates in the DNA. This first stage of enhancement liberates 535HP from the standard VTG turbos.

Acceleration remains at a blistering 3.7sec 0-60, but the stage I 9ff enhancement boosts top speed up to a cool 202mph and shaves 1.2 sec from the 0-125mph sprint!

Stage II
Performance kit no. 2 includes in addition to kit no. 1 the highest quality stainless steel headers and custom 9ff sport camshafts. Maximum power peaks at 560 HP, but its 550 ft-lb of lag-free, stump pulling torque creates quit a push. The AWD turbo performs the stoplight sprint to 60mph within 3.6 seconds and reaches 125mph in 11.3 seconds.

Again a remarkable improvement compared to the exemplary, but staid in comparison stock version.

Stage III
For now, this is the ultimate state of 997 turbo enhancement. Peak HP rises to 640HP, while torque swells to nearly 600 ft-lb! Very impressive indeed! Additional enhancements from the stage II powerkit are two larger VTG turbo and king-size aluminum intercoolers to eliminate heat soak and maximize VTG-assisted boost. The path of boosted gasses is similarly enhanced – as high boost hoses and fi ttings are specifi ed. Thus equipped, the Stage III 9ff turbo rockets to 60mph in 3.5 seconds, 125 in 10.7 sec and continues charging on, until the forces of aerodynamic drag fi nally impede its progress at an allconquering 213mph. With the AMG 6.2-litre V8 engine, which has been boosted to 530 bhp, the numerous lightweight components, 19-inch AMG forged wheels, AMG adjustable sports suspension and AMG high-performance composite brakes, the special CLK 63 AMG brings its sports car talents to bear even more convincingly – and cuts an impressive figure especially on racing circuits.

Sporty yet elegant design and engine tuning up to 462 hp / 340 kW: BRABUS now offers an extensive individual program for the new Mercedes GL-Class. All components are covered by the unique BRABUS Tuning Warranty® of three years up to 100,000 kilometers (see BRABUS warranty conditions as of June 2003).

BRABUS offers the world's largest engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles, which also benefits owners of the new GL-Class. For the GL 320 CDI the BRABUS engine specialists have developed the BRABUS D6 (III) PowerXtra performance kit that is fully compatible with the standard diesel particulate filter and meets Euro IV emission limits.


After the simple plug-and-play installation of the tuning module, an operation that can be performed by any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer, the engine produces a maximum power output of 272 hp / 200 kW and a bullish peak torque of 590 Nm at just 1,600 rpm. Performance improves accordingly: Compared to the production car (9.5 seconds) the sprint time from rest to 100 km/h is shortened to 8.9 seconds, top speed increases from 210 to 218 km/h.

For the GL 500 the BRABUS engine tuning program ranges from the B8 performance kit for a maximum power output of 419 hp / 308 kW to the 462-hp / 340-kW BRABUS 6.1 displacement engine for the same model. Equipped with this V8 engine whose displacement has been enlarged from 5.5 to 6.1 liters the SUV accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 255 km/h. The engine also delivers an impressive peak torque of 615 Nm at 3,100 rpm.

All BRABUS engines are lubricated exclusively with ARAL high-performance motor oil. For all GL-Class engine variants BRABUS offers custom-calibrated BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust systems with four chromed tailpipes.

To give the new top-of-the-line SUV an even more customized and exclusive appearance BRABUS offers a sporty yet elegantly styled design package. The package components are made from Pur-R-Rim thus making them easy to paint and ensuring OEM quality as well as perfect fit.

The BRABUS on-road front fascia was designed to replace the lower part of the stock bumper. The front fascia with its large air inlets gives the SUV an even more dynamic appearance and reduces lift on the front axle at high speed. The GL front can be further upgraded with BRABUS headlamp inserts with two fog lamps and two high beams each.

The BRABUS rocker panels for the GL-Class provide a more favorable aerodynamic transition between front and rear wheel houses. But that's not all: Integrated entrance lights and chrome trim strips combine elegant design and added safety. The entrance lights are activated with the keyless-entry remote or by pulling on a door handle.

The BRABUS designer suit for the largest Mercedes SUV is rounded out by a rear fascia with integrated diffuser and cutouts for the BRABUS sport exhaust system with four tailpipes. The program also features an understated rear spoiler that is attached to the liftgate.

The exclusive BRABUS look is further characterized by custom-tailored BRABUS Monoblock wheels in three different designs and sizes from 18 to 22 inches in diameter. The classic polished Monoblock VI design with six double spokes is available for the GL-Class either as multi-piece light-alloy rims in size 9.5Jx20 with size 295/45 ZR 20 tires or as one-piece 10Jx22 wheels with 295/35 ZR 22 tires.

The range of fully polished BRABUS Monoblock S light-alloy wheels with five curved double spokes includes sizes 8Jx18, 8.5Jx19 and 9.5Jx19 for use with the production tires and culminates in the especially exclusive 10Jx22 option.

BRABUS also offers the new Monoblock E wheel family with nine silver painted spokes and polished flange for the GL models. Customers can choose between 9.5Jx20 and 10Jx22 wheels with custom-tailored tires from BRABUS technology partners Pirelli and Yokohama.

Custom-calibrated to these sporty tire/wheel combinations is the BRABUS control module for GL-Class models equipped with AIRMATIC air suspension. It lowers the ride height by some 30 millimeters.

For further improved active safety of the new SUV BRABUS offers various versions of its high-performance brake systems. The top-of-the-line version features 12-piston fixed aluminum calipers with vented and perforated 380 x 36 millimeter discs on the front axle. In combination with six-piston fixed calipers and 355 x 28 mm brake discs on the rear axle they provide stopping power normally reserved for purebred sports cars.

Another BRABUS specialty for the new Mercedes GL-Class lies in exclusive interior options: Stainless-steel door sills with illuminated BRABUS logo or an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel are part of the product lineup as are exclusive BRABUS fully leather interiors precision-crafted from a combination of the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara.

The BRABUS interior designers have further developed special seat consoles for the backs of the front seats. These consoles feature a seven-inch LCD screen and an integrated DVD player. An even more exclusive version of these consoles also includes an electrically deployed table.
